Paddle boarding and kids, is that a good mix? If you haven’t noticed recently, paddle boarding is everywhere. Commercials on TV, any body of water on the weekends, and strapped on the tops of cars heading to the closest open water! One of the unique aspects of stand up paddle boarding is that everyone can participate some way or another. And by everyone we mean it. We have taken groups of 70 and even 80 year olds out on the water! Paddle boarding can help older ones feel like kids again. Speaking of kids, they are the future of paddle boarding so lets get them involved.
Reading our blogs you have noticed there are many benefits both mentally and physically when it comes to SUP. Too may kids these days don’t spend enough time outdoors. Paddle boarding can get them outside and helps them to stay in shape and gain valuable skills as well. Being here in Florida there are plenty of places to take the boards out and various activities you can do on them. They are awesome for fantastic photography. If your kids are into speed, perhaps racing or waves are your kids thing. There are SUP clubs to join to get involved with the community and make friends. Certainly don’t over look fishing either. You might be amazed at the variety and size of fish that your kids can catch off their boards. These unique craft can allow them to access areas that boats can’t get to with out spooking the fish with a loud outboard motor.
Let’s not overlook the skills that your kids will learn as well. Stand up paddle boards are vessels on the water. This means your kids will need to learn the basics of boating, navigating and safety on the water. Considering that here in Florida we are virtually surrounded by water these skills will always be valuable.
So the next time the kids are looking for something to do, give us a call and lets set up a time to get them acquainted with paddle boarding. Introduce them to a sport they will love the rest of their life.
